Shorebirds at Blacks Creek Bird Reserve

Blacks Creek Bird Reserve is teeming with shorebirds and your leader, RL Rowland, knows the place like the back of his hand. Close to 50 species have been seen recently. A spotting scope helps (we will bring a couple), but many birds are close enough to see with your binoculars. Shorebirds don't flit around like songbirds, but they mingle together, so patience is required.

The walking is not easy, it's uneven and brushy and there's no shade. You may walk up to 1.5 miles. Know your capabilities and wait for an easier trip if this sounds beyond your comfort zone.

You must register in order to attend this field trip and we limit the number to ensure a quality experience.

Learn more and register (starting at 6:00 pm on July 22).
