Meet the Newest Members of our Board of Directors
A very warm welcome to the newest members of our Board of Directors!
Lucian Davis
Lucian Davis is currently a sophomore at BSU, majoring in Biology with an emphasis in Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior. He's been a birder since 2018, and recently founded the Idaho Young Birders Club. He also works with the Intermountain Bird Observatory banding songbirds and raptors, and helping with a variety of other projects. He plans to spend his career working on bird conservation, and is passionate about getting young people interested in birds and conservation.
Patti Guicheteau
Patti Guicheteau was born and raised in Wyoming. She has a master of education degree from the University of Washington and has spent the last four decades working in various areas of education, including special education, elementary education, English, non-native English, and assessment. While being an active birder and eBirder, Patti has participated in GEAS Christmas Bird Count, Backyard Bird Count, Climate Watch winter and summer surveys, the annual clean up at Blacks Creek, habitat restoration on the Boise River, and the Advocacy Committee. She also volunteers with the Intermountain Bird Observatory seasonal banding and outreach. Patti hopes to continue advocating for conservation, habitat restoration, and outreach.
Sierra Laverty
Sierra Laverty is a 7th generation Idahoan with a family history of conservation. She grew up watching her mother reintroduce wolves into Idaho and Yellowstone, and her father fighting for salmon habitat throughout the state. Naturally, family trips into the Idaho wilderness revolved around identifying everything in sight, including Idaho's avifauna. Sierra has worked at Idaho Botanical Garden as their Assistant Horticulture Director since 2016, where she is passionate about teaching the public how to create habitat in their own backyards, using her knowledge from her B.S. in Horticulture from Oregon State University. Sierra is enjoying learning about North America’s 2,000+ bird species, as she’s given up on trying to learn all 30,000 beetles.
Lisa Reed
After working in foundations and nonprofits for more than 25 years in preK-12 education and health, Lisa Reed is excited to put her focus toward protecting birds, other wildlife, and the habitats they need to thrive. She believes GEAS demonstrates great community partnerships and vitality, and she looks forward to being a part of this group’s work. Lisa and her husband Eric have bicycled, canoed, hiked, and birded in many countries, giving them an appreciation for the incredible opportunities we have in the U.S. to protect wildlife and their habitat.
Ceredig Roberts
Ceredig Roberts was born in Aberystwyth, Wales, UK and spent his youth enjoying the welsh wilderness and playing soccer and rugby. He then left Wales for Oxford University to study Physics and Materials Science receiving an M.A. and a D. Phil. After working in the Semiconductor Industry in the U.K. for 5 years he moved to Boise, Idaho to work for Micron Technology. Most recently he was a Senior Technical Director responsible for new memory technology developments. Ceredig retired in 2019 and can now focus on his passion for photographing the wildlife of Idaho! I am looking forward to the opportunity of serving on the GEAS board and contributing to the mission of the society in educating and communicating to the community about our natural world and what we can do to conserve our fragile ecosystem.
