The eighth official McCall Christmas bird count (CBC) will be coordinated virtually this year with participants assigned to groups or areas ahead of time.  All levels of interest and experience are welcome.  The count circle includes McCall, Payette Lake, Ponderosa State Park, N. Fork Payette River, and portions of Meadows Valley and Long Valley.  Feeder, vehicle-based, and on-foot counting opportunities available.  If there is sufficient snow some areas may be best covered on skis or snowshoes.  Since this year’s count will be planned virtually, please contact Matt Dresser prior to the count if you are interested in participating.

The Christmas Bird Count is the world's longest-running community science program. For three weeks each winter, people across North America work together to take a snapshot of bird populations. Anyone can participate, and contribute to a dataset that fuels science all year! Learn more about the Christmas Bird Count.
