Introduction to Bird Photography

  • Garden City Library 6015 N Glenwood St Garden City, ID 83714 (map)

Birds are one of nature's most difficult subjects; they are often small, hidden, far away or moving and can be all of these things. A few tips can make taking pictures of birds less frustrating and help you get the photos you're after. Photographer Ken Miracle will explain how to find birds and get them in your viewfinder. He'll talk about camera gear and camera settings and answer your questions. Ken discovered photography after retiring. He found photography to be an excellent way to promote conservation and tell stories in print and on the world wide web. His motto is "shoot, share and conserve." Ken's photos have appeared in the Idaho Press “Just For the Birds” by Terry Rich, Outdoor Idaho's Face Book Page, The Art Wall at St. Alphonsus Boise, The Western Idaho Fair, and in the Secretary of States Office in the Idaho Capitol. He's taught photography one on one and in class room settings. Ken volunteers with Golden Eagle Audubon Society, Boise River Enhancement Network, The Nature Conservancy, Quail Forever, Idaho Fish and Game, The Owyhee County Local Sage Grouse Working Group, Intermountain Bird Observatory (IBO), and Cole Valley Christian School.
