Woodpeckers are one of the most specialized birds in North America, and Idaho hosts as many as 12 species, depending on habitat. They live their lives in and on trees, rarely bothering with the ground, and function as architects of the forest through their drilling and carving talents. Join this class to learn which woodpeckers to watch and listen for in Idaho and how they fit in to the forest ecosystem.
Laura Whittemore has taught classes for Audubon Society of Portland and previously worked for Backyard Bird Shop. She holds a BA in Biology from Lewis and Clark College and has traveled in the U.S.A., Australia, South Africa and Antarctica in search of birds.
Class fee is $30. Current Golden Eagle Audubon Society members get a $10 discount.
